Doors and Bars

Paint, burglar bars, bamboo, and doors - that's been the story of our lives for the past week. Every day we go up to the property and Barbara paints while Tom cuts and welds steel or hacks away at the bamboo stumps. While we're doing that, our carpenters have been working on hanging our doors and staining and finishing them (the milky appearance of the doors in the pictures is because they had just been sanded when they were photographed).

But the biggest news of the week does not have a picture - the Home Solutions store called and said our windows are done! So sometime early next week they will be delivered and installed, and we will be able to close up and lock the house. Needless to say, we are terribly excited by this prospect!

We're really feeling like short-timers now, with less than two weeks before we head back to the frozen North. Although we will still be a little short of our goal of having the house livable, we are very happy with the progress we have made. We are already looking forward to our next visit and continuing the adventure!
