2014/15 Arrival

Our trip down went smoothly, and it had not rained so there was no problem getting to the house with all of our bags and groceries (unlike last year!). The place looked beautiful, and all of the house systems (water, electricity, internet) came up without problems. We settled in quickly, getting unpacked and a lot of small tasks done.

Our plants had all grown a lot, but the big surprise was our Century Plant, which is putting up a huge flowering stalk. It looks like a huge spear of asparagus, and is already over six feet tall. According to the web, it may grow up to 20 or 30 feet by the time it all blooms!

Barbara thought that it would be nice to have a couple of chairs down by our tiled sofa, so Tom hired Blakka and they dug out a much larger flat area in front of the sofa. This area is shaded all day long by the Mango trees, so it makes a great place to chill out and talk.

Our neighborhood is starting to change a bit, with both Jamaican and American landowners starting to build nearby. More on that in the next post!
